Unlike typical duets, Long Fling doesn’t focus on harmonies or traditional back-and-forth vocals. Instead, Pip and Willem trade lines over minimal, melodic arrangements that reflect their shared sensibilities. The songs are direct but often playful, shaped by a mix of guitars, drum machines, and off-the-cuff lyrics. On stage, Pip and Willem expand the sound with Sal Rubinstein, Darek Mercks, and Tender Blom. (Bandcamp)
O novo disco das Wet Leg é melhor do que o primeiro. Mangetout e CPR são proto-clássicos, mas ainda há o resto para descobrir
The synergy of this three-way blunt rotation is embedded in the trio’s DNA. Cristante brings a studied actors’ sensibility to vocals ranging from honeyed (‘Marble Arch’) to hell-bent and possessed (‘rooster’). Fehmi ranges from airy, brooding baritone (‘Lioness’) to mic-chewing megaphone histrionics (‘omni shambles’). Fenton, a wispy tenor, can veer between mystical melodicism and soaring blue-eyed soul within the same 8 bars (‘Plastered’).
Leatherette is a quintet.
Leatherette have announced the release of their third album 'Ritmo Lento' on 28th November via Bronson Recordings.
One of the most intriguing acts of the new Italian indie scene, playing festivals and touring Europe and the UK, and releasing critically acclaimed albums 'Fiesta' (2022) and 'Small Talk' (2024), Leatherette return with a record born from the need to slow down, switch off the autopilot, and rediscover the essence of songs without worrying about fitting them into a genre.
'Ritmo Lento' is a record of atmospheres that perfectly balances catchy melodies, sing-along choruses, fuzzy cavalcades, and more reflective moments. The very title of the album, Ritmo Lento (“Slow Rhythm” in Italian), speaks of this dialectic: the constant tension between frenzy and pause, neurosis and breath, the desire to accelerate and the need to stop. The vinyl is divided into two distinct sides: six impetuous and catchy tracks and six denser, more meditative ones, like an inner diary of contrasts.
